Catalysis@Cambridge Showcase and Networking Event

14 April 2015Catalysis@Cambridge Showcase and Networking Event

The first Showcase and Networking Event brought together a number of Cambridge academics, researchers and around 50 industry representatives, including from GlaxoSmithKline, Shell, Pfizer, Sabic, Aramco, Merck and Johnson Matthey.

Leading academics highlighted recent discoveries and new approaches to catalysis and catalytic reaction engineering in a series of short presentations, and chaired a series of parallel round table discussions exploring challenges in catalysis in several key areas including energy, materials science, biocatalysis, synthesis and continuous processing.

23rd October 2014

Department of Chemistry

Attendants from Cambridge: Prof. Jonathan Nitschke (Chemistry), Dr Adrian Fisher (Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology), Prof. Matthew Gaunt (Chemistry), Prof. Alexei Lapkin (Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology), Dr Robert Phipps (Chemistry), Dr Carmine D'Agostino (Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology)

The workshop focused on key pre-competitive research challenges in catalysis for agrochemicals manufacture and identified the topics for potential collaborative projects in the areas of selective oxidation and enantioselective catalysis.

Nippon Kayaku Co

2nd September 2014

Attendants from Cambridge: Prof. Steve Ley (Chemistry), Prof. Alexei Lapkin (Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology), Dr. Paul Mantle (Materials and Metallurgy), Dr Isabelle De Wouters (Chemistry, Energy@Cambridge)

The workshop focused on the areas of research that are of interest to Nippon Kayaku Co at the interface between materials, chemistry and engineering.

13th June 2014

Prof. Matthew Gaunt (Chemistry), Prof. Steve Ley (Chemistry), Dr. Robert Phipps (Chemistry), Prof. Alexei Lapkin (Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology), Prof. Jonathan Nitschke (Chemistry)

The workshop explored topics of interest for potential collaboration on pre-competitive fundamental research. This initial workshop was followed-up by a smaller workshop in which two topics were selected for potential projects in the areas of automated synthesis and late stage C-H functionalisation.
